The campsite is owned, maintained and operated by the

Barrwood Trust

in support of Scouting.


The Barrwood offers a wide range of activities on site. These include:

Archery: a range near the Main Entrance

Beaver Fort: an adventure area near the Barn

Bouldering Wall: inside the Barn

Camp Fire Circle: an area for use by larger groups

Canoeing: the former reservoir offers an expanse of water
which may be used for simple canoeing

Caving Facility: on the site of the former swimming pool

The caving complex is closed until Spring 2020.

Nature Trail: 38 locations with information boards

Obstacle Course: designed for Scouts over the age of 8 years

Open Activity Area: a open area near the Barn

Orienteering: maps & signs are available

Reservoir: Class "C" water available for canoeing or raft building

Wayfaring Course: like orienteering but less challenging
