The campsite is owned, maintained and operated by the

Barrwood Trust

in support of Scouting.

The Reservoir

There has been a reservoir in the Barrwood since before it was first used by Scouts. Unfortunately the water is no longer considered to be fit for drinking and consequently it can’t be used for swimming either.

The reservoir is classified as Class "C" water. Although you do not require formal qualifications you must abide by the rules as stated in the POR of the Scout Association which includes having permission from your home DC.(POR Rule 9.45) See also link below.

The Scout Association recently published a blog on: entitled Permit Free activities on water.

There is equipment available for kayaking, stand up boarding and raft building. There is also equipment available, from the warden, for pond dipping (no charge for this activity.). Please indicate which activity you require when booking.

There are now guidelines for the use of the reservoir which can be viewed or downloaded by right-clicking on the link “Guidelines for use of the Reservoir”.

If you wish to use of the Reservoir this can be booked using the usual Booking Form which will attract a booking fee. All reservoir use will attract a fee, the majority of which is used to maintain the equipment.

New for 2019.

The Reservoir store is now complete and operational. Kayaks and Boards are now easily accessible. The rafting equipment remains in the locker next to the launching point.

A second launching point has been established. This allows for the segregation of activities at the fun day and will allow two groups to operate on the reservoir at the same time.
